ABSTRACT:Anxiety in foreign language learning has always aroused great concern among wide language researchers. Currently, anxiety in second language learning research has received considerable attention abroad. There are more and more people learning English, however, most learners feel difficulty to learn English well. One of the reasons for this phenomenon is English learning anxiety. Therefore, discussing causes of anxiety is quite essential. The study uses a questionnaire designed by Hurwitz. The survey of foreign language anxiety is conducted to a sample of 188 non-English major students in Chongqing University of Science and Technology. In the whole questionnaire foreign language learning anxiety includes five factors, which are communication apprehension; test anxiety; fear of negative evaluation and negative attitude towards English classes; fear of failing English class. As a result, the author finds that there does exist a common phenomenon of anxiety among non-English majors in CQUST. Negative attitude towards English class ranks highest and fear of negative evaluation lowest among the five factors. In view of the causes of anxiety, the author puts forward corresponding approaches for teachers, aiming at helping English learners reduce English learning anxiety and improving the foreign language teaching level.

摘要:外语学习焦虑已经引起了广大研究者的注意。当前,第二语言学习过程中的焦虑研究在国外受到相当的重视。现在,越来越多的人投入学习英语的热潮中。然而对于大多数英语学习者而言,把英语学好都有一定的难度。造成这种现象的主要原因之一就是英语学习焦虑,因此研究引起焦虑的原因变得十分重要。本论文参考了由霍维茨设计的问卷调查对重庆科技学院的188名非英语专业学生进行了英语学习焦虑调查,并且进行了分析。问卷调查将外语学习焦虑分为五个方面:交际焦虑、考试焦虑、害怕负面评价焦虑、对英语学习的消极态度、害怕无法通过考试。结果表示,英语学习焦虑是大多数学生英语学习的一个普遍现象。在五个方面之中,对英语学习的消极态度焦虑值最高,害怕负面评价焦虑最低。然后根据产生焦虑现象的具体原因,提出了降低英语学习焦虑的对策,达到帮助学习者降低焦虑提高教学水平的目的。
