Abstract:With the advent of Internet in 1980s, research on how to create learning environments for autonomous learning has proliferated. After an unremitting effort, it is not easily found that many researches have either focused on English teaching via Internet or on one specific software program. Little work has done in research on how English majors learn autonomously outside the classroom. Hence, the thesis attempts to do a preliminary research on the condition of usage and effect in this field.
In this study, a questionnaire survey has been carried out to investigate the current situation of English majors’ autonomous learning through English learning websites. The respondents (n=120) were at random chosen from English majors in Zengcheng College. It is discovered by the thesis that although students’ much time has spent in Internet, unbelievably the time in entertainment is far more than that in learning. In addition, the superficial knowledge about the content of English learning websites has created a phenomenon that learner autonomy on English learning websites is low.
The purpose of this essay is to give some advice on it.

中文摘要:自从二十世纪八十年代因特网的出现,研究人员开始普遍关注怎样构建适用于利用网络自主学习的学习环境。经过综观搜集的文献,发现目前大部分研究都是局限与网络英语教学和局限于某个特定的软件,很少有人研究英语专业学生在课外利用英语学习网自主学习的情况。本文试图在这一方面做个初步研究使用情况和效果。
本文以问卷调查为测量工具,主要是从学习者的角度调查目前大学生利用英语学习网自主学习的情况,调查对象是本校英语专业随机抽取的120同学。结果表明虽然大学生花在网上的时间不少,但是网络的娱乐性占得比例远高于网络的学习性,加上对英语学习网的内容认识肤浅,造成了在课外,英语学习网的自主性学习就偏低。
本文就这个问题提出解决的建议。
