Abstract:With the development of social economy and China stepping into WTO, it brings enormous changes and reinforces the communication around the world. The way to improve communication is business correspondence.
Business correspondence working as a bridge connects China with countries around the world and is widely used, especially in obtaining information, expressing ideas, setting up public relationship, conveying emotion and establishing social business. Therefore, being mastery of stylistic features and linguistic features of business correspondence expertly is a key to the persons who engage in commercial affairs.
Business letters’ writing should conform to seven Cs— courtesy, concisenesses, clarity, concreteness, correctness, completeness, consideration. Seven Cs are in accordance with Cooperative Principles which was put forward by Paul Grice perfectly. Those are Quantity Maxim, Quality Maxim, Relevance Maxim and Manner Maxim. No elegant words are needed in business letters’ writing. Only when comforming to the above principles can you express your purpose explicitly and be trusted by readers.
This dissertation aims to analyze the stylistic features and linguistic features of English business correspondence. Firstly, it begins with the stylistic features and seven Cs. Then it compares business letter with private letter and embodies seven Cs in Cooperative Principles. Secondly, interprets linguistic features in different points.
This dissertation is trying to reveal the stylistic features and linguistic features of English business correspondence, hoping readers to understand business letters in a further step by the same time.

中文摘要:随着社会经济的不断发展,中国加入世界贸易组织,为经济带来巨大的变化,加强了中国与世界各国之间的交流,而英语商务信函就是加强沟通的重要手段。
英语商务信函在我国与各国经济交流中起着桥梁的作用,并得以广泛运用,尤其表现在信息、表达思想、公共关系、交流感受和社会商务方面。因此,对于从事外贸事业的人来说,熟练地掌握英语商务信函写作的文体和语言特征是非常关键的。
信函写作的七大原则:礼貌、简明、清晰、完整、具体、正确以及周全。这七大原则完全符合保罗.格里斯所提出的合作原则,即数量原则、质量原则、关系原则和方式原则。信函写作不需要优美和华丽的词藻,只要符合以上原则,清晰、明确地表达自己的目的,为读者所信任,那就足够了。
本篇论文的目标在于分析英语商务信函写作的文体特征及语言特征。首先,从文体特征着手,阐述七个C,对商务信函与私人信函进行对比,以及七个C在合作原则中的体现;其次,对商务信函的语言特征进行分点分析。
这篇论文尝试着揭示商务信函的文体特征和语言特征的同时,希望能让读者对商务信函进一步了解。
