Abstract: This thesis first studies the functions and sources of automobile brand names, and finds that there are many sources of automobile brand names, such as persons’ names, place names, nature, etc. Based on the analysis of the sources and origins of these brand names, this thesis puts forward that German translator Hans J. Vermeer’s skopos theory has great help and guidance in the translation of automobile brand names. Lastly, this thesis concludes some translation methods of automobile brand names, namely transliteration, switch translation, free translation and so on and these translation methods have good guidance in the translation of automobile brand names.

摘要: 本文首先通过研究汽车商标的作用、来源,总结出汽车商标有多种来源,例如人名、地名、自然等方面。其次,在分析和总结这些商标名字来源时发现,德国翻译家汉斯·威密尔提出的目的论对汽车商标的翻译有很好的指导意义。 本文以该理论为翻译原则,总结出了一些汽车商标的翻译方法,如音译法、转译法、意译法等,这些方法对汽车商标翻译具有很好的指导作用。
