Abstract:In the recent years, the rapid development of tourism industry attracts many foreigners to China, which puts forward higher requirements for English public signs in tourist attractions. But many problematic public signs exist in various forms and bring many inconveniences to tourists.
Given that fact, this thesis chooses this issue as the research topic. Based on the current situation of the definition, classification, function and features of public signs, and of the Chinese-English translation of public signs in tourist attractions, this paper lists a lot of public signs in tourist attractions, which are from books, theses and websites. By using skopos theory, the author attempts to find out the common errors existing in current Chinese-English translation of public signs in tourist attractions, and proposes some effective and useful strategies for reference. Through this study, the author hopes a much better effect will be achieved in arousing people’s attention to this issue.

摘要:随着近年来中国旅游业的蓬勃发展,越来越多的外国人来到中国旅游。这使得对旅游景点的英语公示语的质量要求越来越高,但是值得注意的是,全国各大景区景点的双语公示语建设远远落后于旅游业发展的要求,严重影响了景点的对外宣传,给游客带来了诸多不便。
有鉴于此,本文选择了旅游景点公示语的英译问题作为研究对象。本文首先分析了旅游景点公示语英译的现状,在研究了公示语的定义、分类、功能和语言特点的基础上,通过列举大量来自于书籍、论文、网络的例子来揭示当前旅游景点公示语英译中的普遍问题,并运用翻译目的论提出比较实用、系统化的翻译策略。本文希望通过对这些常用旅游公示语的探讨,让人们对现今的旅游景点公示语英译问题有更为清晰的认识。
