Abstract:This thesis discusses the cultural deviation in Toni Morrison’s novel The Bluest Eye. As the first black woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, Morrison reveals the cultural deviation demonstrated by the African Americans in the middle of the twentieth century. Living in economically, politically and socially unfavorable situation and influenced by the dominant culture of the white people, they began to give up their traditions and embraced and followed the values of the white. However, this deviation did not make them accepted by the American society dominated by the white. On the contrary, it put them in a state of anguish.
By demonstrating the cultural deviation of the African-Americans and its bad consequence, Morrison calls upon African Americans to adhere to their own culture and traditions. She asks them not to follow blindly the culture of the white. Otherwise, they would loss in the white-dominated society.

摘要:本论文主要探讨了美国黑人女作家托尼·莫里森的小说《最蓝的眼睛》中的文化背离。作为第一位获得诺贝尔文学奖的黑人女作家,莫里森在其作品《最蓝的眼睛》中对非裔美国人这一特殊的群体在在二十世纪中期所表现出来的传统文化背离现象进行了深刻的揭露。在经济、政治及社会地位极为低下的情况下,在强势的美国白人主流文化的影响下,非裔美国人逐渐失去了坚守传统的信心和勇气,他们开始放弃传统的价值观念,转而追求白人的价值观和生活方式。然而,这种对传统文化的背离并没有使非裔美国人融入以白人为主导的美国主流社会,相反,它却使非裔美国人生活在无尽的痛苦中。
通过向世人展示非裔美国人的文化背离及其恶果,托尼·莫里森呼吁自己的同胞要永远想坚守自己的文化,不要一味地追随白人的主流文化,否则,他们只会迷失在白人主导的主流文化中。
