Abstract:This dissertation purposes to analyze the causes and processes of the formation of Virginia Woolf’s feminism and three stages in Lily Briscoe’s mind to femininity: abandoning, recognition and surpassing, in the Virginia Woolf’s masterpiece—To the Lighthouse. In the basis on the respective analysis of Virginia Woolf and Lily Briscoe, using the definition of the value in the value philosophy and its research method, we analyze the relationship of needs between Virginia Woolf and Lily Briscoe, and the objective sociality of Lily. With the analysis of Lily Briscoe’s artistic value, the dissertation reveals the female thoughts of Virginia Woolf and the androgynous theory.
