Abstract:Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, is China’s famous historical and cultural city and tourist city. Unique geographical location and historical and cultural heritage have created rich tourism resources in Nanjing. With the 2014 Youth Olympic Games held in Nanjing, more and more foreign tourists come to Nanjing for tourism. The translation of Nanjing’s tourism attractions’ introduction is an important part of the internationalization of Nanjing. Therefore, it has practical significance to study the translation of Nanjing’s tourism attraction.
On the basis of tourism attractions’ introduction of Nanjing, this paper first studies the unique expressions of tourism attraction introduction and their rich cultural connotation. Then the paper explores the translation of tourism attractions’ introduction from the perspective of skopos theory. Several translation methods as literal translation, free translation, etc. are proposed, therefore the translated version can not only be accepted by people around the world but also keep the original cultural connotation so to promote further cultural communication between China and the other countries.
