Abstract:The present paper aims to analyze the application of associative memory in memorizing English words for Chinese middle school students through three aspects: 1.features of their brain development and their influence on memorizing English words, 2. the overview of associative memory, 3.the application of associative memory in memorizing English words. Furthermore, in this paper, the author makes analyses of a large number of examples for memorizing English words through four strategies of associative memory for Chinese middle school students: morphology association, word-meaning association, consonant association and code association. This paper is meant to help middle school students to get a deeper understanding of associative memory for improving their efficiency of memorizing English words. Meanwhile, by sharing some useful and helpful strategies for memorizing English words, this paper can inspire the passion of middle students for learning English and enlighten the English teachers who want to improve their teaching methods in the long run concerning a longer period in the future.
