Abstract:English as a compulsory course in university has been completely universal. As Chinese culture plays an increasingly important role in the world, great weight is given to English as a intercommunication media in the international stage, and public expectations for English education becomes higher and higher. This article aims to analyze strengths and weaknesses of the traditional teaching model and the multimedia teaching model, exploring the two different teaching modes to make the two modes complementary even to improve college English teaching model. It is argued that adding multimedia mode into the tradition model appropriately and effectively will work for college English teaching by means of detailing arrangement for students learning tasks and improving educational evaluation means to enhance teachers' professional knowledge. The rapid development of computer makes a new English teaching platform and creates a new opportunity to change the teaching model. How to use the computer network technology to further explore the English Teaching Model which can meet the international standards and to improve students' overall English proficiency is also an urgent problem.
