Abstract:The Little Prince was written during World War II, at that time the author Antoine de Saint Exupery exiled in the US. During the time of writing, he was tortured by homesickness in foreign country. He endured the hardship of loneliness alone, and at the some time missed the ravaged country, his parents and the whole family. He revealed his life in torment and created the little prince from the real experience of his desert landing.
The Little Prince has the largest readership and translation versions in France. As one of the world’s best-sellers, in France, it was an elected best book of the 20th century. On the background of World War II and in conjunction with personal experience as a pilot, he described the adventure of the little prince in different planets and showed love, friendship and loneliness in the story. Since the publishing of The Little Prince, it had been widely adapted for radio dramas, theater show, films and other forms which bring a certain extent to people’s material life and spiritual life.
This thesis will show an analysis of cultural values of The Little Prince from the background, plot development and the effect it brings to material life and spiritual life.
