Abstract
Earnest Miller Hemingway was one of the most famous writers in America history. He created plenty of works during his whole life and these works wined him a great success. Most of his works were adapted for movies and teleplays which were very popular among the whole world. His works not only represented American’s thoughts during that time but also influenced generation after generation. Especially his code hero description wined him love of many readers and reviewers. In this way, it is meaningful to study the code heroes in Hemingway’s works. This dissertation is based on the Hemingway’s two novels: The Snows of Kilimanjaro and A Clean, Well-Lighted Place. Many current theories about Hemingway-style code heroes are consulted in this paper. Meanwhile, his life experience and social background at that time are also be considered to analysis Hemingway-style code heroes’ unique features in protagonists’ language, behavior and mentality.
