Abstract
During the development of human history, translation is an indispensable part in human communication. The translation of the feminism is a new kind of translation theory, which sprung up after “the cultural turn” in 1970s, and it becomes one of the most important translation study points from then on.
The representatives of feminist translation in the west include Luise von Floyow, Barbara Godard, Sherry Simon and so on. They all insist that women should hold the initiative to increase the sense of presence in real life. In China, feminism was introduced into China in 1980s and failed to catch scholars’ attention. Scholars were aware of its influence on translation at the beginning of 21st century. And from that time, the scholars began to study feminism’s influence on translation.

It takes the gender which has been ignored for a long time into account and gives the feminist translators the chance to fight against male domination and discrimination of female in the text by translation. This thesis aims to discuss the translator’s subjectivity in feminist translation. By the case study of the two versions of The Mill on the Floss to demonstrate the differences between different gender translators during the process of translation and the different selection of translation strategy.
