Abstract
Language is not only a tool of communication and thinking, but also a cultural carrier. Different languages contain colorful culture and reflect different ethnic customs, religious beliefs and life backgrounds. In recent society, cultural convergence becomes a major trend in human society, however, the differences of culture cannot be ignored, and it brings a lot of trouble to translation, especially the translation of cultural-loaded words. Culture-loaded words are those words that have plenty cultural meaning in their original meaning or conceptual meaning. The cultural-loaded words in Chinese are the embodiment of Chinese culture and Chinese language. Cultural-loaded words are the emphasis and difficulty in literary translation. The success or failure in literary translation depends largely on whether these words are treated properly. Generally speaking, among the translation techniques, there are two contradictory and complementary methods in translation---- Domesticaion and Foreignization.
