Abstract
Thanks to the development of economic integration, financial trades among diverse nations are becoming increasingly frequent as the world changing with each passing day. Business English, the tool of communication, has been playing an obviously essential part in that process. Meanwhile, news is an effective way for people to acquaint themselves with other country’s culture and vicissitudes of the global community. Business news not only broadens the horizons of entrepreneurs, merchants and average people, but also transmits large amounts of valuable information. However, because of differences in cultures and codes of language, few people can understand all the information of the English news accurately at once. News headlines, as the summary of the whole news, are terse and forceful, which makes the whole news easy to understand.
In view of this situation, this paper analyzes features of business news headlines and proposes strategies for upgrading translation quality on the basis of functional equivalence theory of Eugene Nida, which targets at contributing to cross-cultural communication.
