Abstract: Rubaiyat was quatrains written by the ancient Persian poet Omar Khayyam, including extraordinary and distinct thoughts in its gorgeous lines. Rubaiyat gained its popularity owing to the translation by a famous poet and translator Edward FitzGerald, who brought about the well-known English version of Rubaiyat, and Rubaiyat has become a gem of English literature. In terms of the Chinese versions, the work translated by Kerson Huang plays an indispensable part among the massive versions held by great scholars. This paper takes Rubaiyat translated by Huang for example, demonstrating the significance of the imitation in the process of poetic translation, illustrating the fairness of poems created by the imitation on the basis of intertextuality.
