Abstract:As one of the most important learning emotional elements, the motivation is significant and important to both the course and the outcome of English learning. Being a nonintellectual factor, learning motivation is of instability which means it is also shapeable. So it’s meaningful to study the learning motivation itself and its connection with English teaching, moreover, how can we make the best of student’s learning motivation to improve their English learning efficiency and interest. Otherwise, the motivation has a profound relationship with the interest that English teacher should understand how the two have an influence on each other. In chapter one, it’ll start with the literature review, including the definition, type, characteristic and component of motivation, which will lay the theoretical foundation for the following Chapter. Besides, it also includes some classical theories of motivations and the motivation of foreign language learning. All of them still have a great influence and guidance on today’s English teaching. For example, Gardner and Lambert’s the extension theory of motivation; expectancy-value theories in L2 motivation and Clement’s concept of linguistic self-confidence. Chapter Two interprets the Present situations of Senior high school’s students’ motivation in L2 Learning. It concludes the problems and factors on English learning. Chapter three is about the survey from Tianjiabing high school. In forms of the questionnaire and class observation, the author collects some data and analyze them simply. Finally, only both the English teacher and the students understand the importance of motivation and learning or teaching, can we have a more efficient and harmonious interaction in English education.
