Abstract
As an indispensable part of English learning, vocabulary accumulation plays a crucial role in second language learners’ performances in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Based on the Encyclopedia view of meaning, the author will make a systematical analysis on the vocabulary learning methods used in word power made easy and give some practical suggestions to vocabulary learners. There are all together five parts in this essay. In the first part, the current situation of vocabulary learning in China and the potential influence of this essay will be illustrated; in the second part, the approaches to vocabulary learning in Structural Linguistics, Transformational-generative linguistics and Cognitive Linguistics will be stated; in the third part, vocabulary learning methods used in Word Power Made Easy will be analyzed and based on the analysis in this part, four suggestions to vocabulary learners will be given; the last part is a conclusion of the whole essay.
