Abstract
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a fairy story written by English mathematician Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. The novel is regarded as the most influential one in the whole period of 19th century which was called “Alice’s Period”.
This thesis attempts to expound the theme of the novel from the angle of romanticism. It is divided into three main parts. The first part is focused on the significance of nature and the writer’s praise for nature. The second part analyzes the heroine’s experience and aims to interpret how the imaginative factors are embodied in the novel. The third part describes the characters’ withdrawal from the real world and expresses the writer’s deep concern for human beings. To be concluded, after the analysis of the romantic elements in the book, the writer expresses his concern about the natural world and underlies the importance of protecting the environment and living in harmony with the natural world.
