ABSTRACT
Moon Palace, created by contemporary American writer Paul Auster, tells a story of a college student named Marco Fogg experiencing the loss of identity and the crisis of property. This paper interprets Fogg’s consuming psychology and the problems existing in his consuming behavior with the theories of western Marxist consumption such as the consumption alienation theory and the sign consuming theory, and then analyzes the positive and negative influence of these problems on Fogg and that society in order that it could provide young people with certain reference on formulating the suitable consumption viewpoint.
