ABSTRACT
The Good Earth, based on the life of Wang Lung’s family, shows to the Western readers a long volume of vast and unique folk customs in old China’s farming society and portrays a brand-new and true-to-life image of China. From the outlook of a native Chinese, Pearl S. Buck choose the Chinese culture as the starting point, described the culture elements from the perspective of the Chinese people’s basic values, Chinese people’s love towards land, etc., introduced China to the West, which set up a cultural bridge between East and West. Buck also make great contributions to the spreading of the Chinese culture.
