ABSTRACT
Communication of any language all occurs beneath the specific context. The context plays a vital role in the generation and understanding of the discourse. In recent years, under the influence of growing prosperity of cross-cultural communication behavior, cultural context influences translation evidently. So it gradually becomes a quite meaningful field of study. Therefore, this paper intends to make a detailed analysis on the influence of cultural context in the translation. And on this basis, this paper intends to further explore how to deal with problems of cultural context in translation dynamically from the perspective of pragmatics. Due to deletion phenomenon of both culture and scene existing in ancient Chinese poetry translations, this paper aims to find out the contextual factors affecting ancient Chinese poetry translations and also find out contextual theories’ importance to translation practice on the basis of contextual theories according to the concept of systematic functional linguistics and analysis of multiple English translations of ancient Chinese poetry.
