Based on the analysis of four pairs of mother-daughter relationships in the novel:Suyuan Woo and Jing-mei Woo, Lindo Jong and Waverly Jong, An-mei Hsu and Rose Hsu Jordan, and Ying-ying St. Clair and Lena St. Clair., this thesis induces four characteristics of traditional Chinese mothers’ educational methods, namely, high expectations, forcible inculcation, lack of communication, and moral and life education.
