Abstract: In order to enhance the international academic exchanges, universities and colleges in China require that the graduates’ thesis must have an English abstract. Through a revision of the English abstracts of 80 non-English majors, this paper analyzes the Chinglish expressions in vocabulary, syntax and discourse of these abstracts, aiming to know about the translation capability of non-English majors and the current situation of abstract translation in dissertation. At the same time, this paper analyses the possible causes and puts forward some solutions, aiming to give some enlightments to improve English teaching in the university.
