Abstract:For a long time, the traditional English approaches fail to meet the different levels of Chinese students in English learning. In English class, a teacher is inclined to play a
center role ,which easily enables students to become passive receivers of knowledge.
.Without question, this method only discourages many students in English learning. Therefore, the first thing to do is to change the English teaching approach and improve the quality of English teaching. The method of “cooperative learning” which is good for making up for this embarrassment and plays an important part in English class, because cooperative learning is a theoretic and strategic approach applied by many countries in the world in the past three decades. Many researches have proved that it is a creative and effective teaching method.
The essay begins with present situation of English teaching in China, focuses on the application of cooperative learning in Yuxi No.6 Middle School. Meanwhile, this paper introduces the strategies of applying cooperative learning, on the one hand, teachers should divide students into groups reasonably, treat each student equally, and create stimulated learning atmosphere, pay attention to the change of teachers’ role; on the other hand, students should make full preparation before class, become active participants in class, etc.

中文摘要:长期以来,英语传统教学法不能满足各个层次英语学习者的需要,老师在课堂上占主导地位,学生只是被动吸收,毫无疑问,这只会扼杀学生的学习积极性。因此,如何改变英语教学法和提高教学质量,是英语教学的当务之急。合作学习就是一个很好的英语教学方法,因为它能弥补传统教学的不足,能在英语教学中发挥重要作用,是目前世界上许多国家都普遍采用的一种富有创意和实效的教学理论与策略体系。
本文从英语教学现状入手,探究合作学习在玉溪六中英语教学中的应用。同时,本文提出了相应的应用策略,一方面教师应合理的分组,平等的对待每一位学生,为学生创造良好的学习氛围,注意教师的角色转变;另一方面学生应在课前做好充分准备,积极主动的参与课堂活动等。
