Abstract: Eco-translatology is a new translation theory which is firstly put forward by professor Hu Gengshen. Rooted in the “Orientation & Selection” idea of the Darwin’s theory of biological evolution, this theory combines translation activity and its ecological environment of the very two languages, and creates a thoroughly different new translation method of “Three-D” : language dimension, culture dimension and interaction dimension. Under the guide of the eco-translatology, this essay aims to study on the practical use situation of the Three-D translation method in the famous Chinese novel The Travels of Lao Ts’an, which is considered as one of the four great censure novels in the late Qing dynasty.
